Location is what makes both our Marketplace and Local Services hyperlocal. This Policy explains what location data we collect, why, how it is used, and the choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

Location is central to how Locvia works — it is what makes both our Marketplace and our Local Services hyperlocal rather than nationwide. This Policy explains, in plain terms, what location data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what choices you have. It supplements, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy.
Locvia calculates the distance between you and nearby listings, and between Customers and registered Service Providers, to power your home feed and to match Service Requests to the right people (currently within an approximate 6-kilometer radius). We also use location to auto-fill your area, district, and state during signup and when you update your profile, saving you from typing this information manually.
We request location permission during signup, when you tap "Update to my current location" in Edit Profile, when you post a new listing or Service Request, and when you register as a Service Provider (to set your service area). Location access on Android is requested through the standard system permission dialog, and you retain full control to allow, deny, or later revoke this permission through your device settings.
Depending on the permission you grant and your device settings, Locvia may receive GPS-based precise coordinates or network/Wi-Fi-based approximate coordinates. Both are used solely to calculate distance for the nearby feed and service matching; we do not display your exact coordinates to other users at any precision level. Other users see only your general area and district, never a precise pinpoint or address.
Location coordinates are stored in association with your user account and, separately, with each listing or Service Request you post (reflecting your location at the time of posting). This data is used to: filter and sort the nearby feed for you and other users; determine which nearby users receive a notification when you post a new listing; determine which registered Service Providers in the relevant category receive a notification when you post a Service Request, based on their configured service radius; and support customer support or safety investigations where location context is relevant to a report.
If you register as a Service Provider, your location and configured service radius (defaulting to approximately 6 kilometers) determine which Service Requests you are notified about. You do not see the exact address of a Customer's Service Request in advance — only its general area and distance from you — until you engage with the Customer through in-app chat after a Quote is accepted.
Locvia does not continuously track your location in the background. Location is captured only at the specific moments described in Section 2 — it is not polled continuously while the app is closed or running in the background.
If you do not grant location permission, or later revoke it through your device settings, you can still use Locvia by manually selecting your state and district from the app's dropdown menus. In this case, your nearby feed and service matching will be based on your selected district rather than a precise radius, which may show listings or Service Requests from a broader area. You can re-enable location access, or use "Update to my current location" in Edit Profile, at any time to switch back to precise distance-based filtering.
When you post a listing or Service Request, your account's current location coordinates (if available) are attached to it so that other users or Service Providers can see accurate distance from their own location. If you move to a new area, we recommend updating your location in Edit Profile so that future listings and Service Requests reflect your current location accurately.
Location coordinates you provide are stored using Google Firebase's Cloud Firestore database, and distance calculations are performed by our application logic and Cloud Functions (including the automated matching of Service Requests to nearby Service Providers). We do not share your location data with any advertising network or data broker. See our Privacy Policy, Section 6, for further detail on our use of Google Firebase.
As Locvia is intended for users 18 years and older, location data is not knowingly collected from minors. See our Privacy Policy, Section 11, for our children's privacy commitments.
We may update this Policy as our location features evolve — for example, if we introduce more granular radius controls, live provider tracking, or new location-based features. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
